Entering at the last minute the All Stars managed to pull together the best team possible for the challenges ahead; although having previously won the tournament plate, expectations to do well were in the back of their minds. The group stages started in drenching rain and mud as they were seeing off a new welsh uni side and then Bath Rugby League. The final group game was lost after complacency crept in which was a good wake up call.

Qualifying for the cup quarter final, the All Stars then saw off a strong Empire 7s team to go into the semi-final. Pelato All Stars had looked to be one of the stronger sides in this competition however the ND7’s started the semi-final at quite a pace with 3 quick tries to surprise Pelato. They duly came back but with committed defence and not getting drawn in to the break line ND7’s won the game by a single point!

The belief was now there that All Stars could go all the way in a tense final against Connolly 7s. The first half showed both sides were fairly matched ending 7-7. The 2nd half was more one way as All Stars retained the ball for most of it frustrating Connolly 7s and breaking through as their defence stretched. With a final blow of the whistle, the ND7’s All Stars were declared the winners resulting in a fantastic day for the team who look to keep the momentum of winning in there coming matches.
